RECRUITMENT OF MEDICAL OFFICERS IN E.S.I.
CORPORATION
Applications
in the prescribed form are invited for filling up of various Medical posts in
A. INSURANCE
MEDICAL OFFICER GRADE-II: * 828
Posts
* Out of 828 vacancies, 25 posts are reserved
under Physically Handicapped quota for OL & OA categories (non surgical job
only). Here, O.L. stands for One Leg
affected (R or L) and O.A. stands for One Arm affected (R or L). The candidates appointed under P.H. quota
will be adjusted against the vacancy of respective categories of
SC/ST/OBC/General. In case of
non-selection of suitable candidates against these posts, unfilled posts under
this quota will be treated as unreserved.
Scale of Pay: Rs.
8,000-275-13,500/- plus non-practicing allowance as admissible to analogous posts in the
Central Health Service.
Age Limit: Not exceeding 30 years as on 30/05/2008. Upper age limit is relaxable for employees of
ESIC and Government servants up to 5 years, for SC/ST candidates up to 5 years,
for OBC candidates up to 3 years. Ex-Servicemen candidates are allowed age
relaxation in accordance with DOPT
Essential Qualifications:
1. A recognized medical qualification included in
the first or second Schedule or Part-II of third Schedule (other than
licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of educational qualification included
in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions stipulated
in Sub-Section (3) of Section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
2. Completion of Compulsory rotating internship***
3. Language test: The candidate shall have to pass
a qualifying test of middle standard in official language of the State
concerned where the vacancies are notified.

NOTE
I : ***Candidates who have
not completed rotating internship shall be eligible to appear for the written
examination provided that, if selected, they shall satisfactorily complete the
compulsory rotating internship before appointment.

allowance (NPA) as admissible to analogous posts in the Central Health Service.

candidates upto 5 years, for OBC candidates upto 3 years' and for Govt.

Essential Qualifications:

3. Work experience in a
responsible position connected with the speciality for a period of:
a) 3 years in case of P.G. degree holders.
b) 5 years in case of P.G. diploma
holders.
4. Language test: The candidate
shall have passed middle level examination in official language of the State
concerned where the vacancies are notified.
NOTE I : Work experience after obtaining the P.G.
degree/ diploma will be recknoned as on 30/05/2008. Experience certificates duly signed by the
Head of Department indicating clearly the period and nature of work, should be submitted
along with the application form.
NOTE II : Qualifications with regard to experience are
relaxable at the discretion of the Appointing Authority on recommendation of
the Selection Committee in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.
NOTE III : The
qualifications regarding experience in respect of Scheduled Castes and the
Scheduled Tribes candidates is relaxable based on the guidelines issued by the
Government of India from time to time.
C. DENTAL
SURGEON: 19 Posts
*One post is reserved for OL, HH category of
disabled person. OL stands for one leg affected ( R or L). HH stands for
Hearing Handicapped.
Scale

Medical Officer
(Ayurveda) : 17 Posts
*One post is reserved for OL, OA category of
disabled person. OL stands for one leg affected ( R or L) OA stands for One arm
affected (R Or L).

Essential Qualifications
1. A degree in Ayurveda from a
recognized University / Statutory State Board / Council / Faculty of Indian
Medicine or equivalent under Indian Central Council Act, 1970 (48 of 1970).
2. Enrolment on the Central
Register of Indian Medicine or State Register of Indian Medicine.
3. Language test : The
candidate shall have to pass a qualifying middle standard test in official
language of the State concerned where the vacancies are notified.
Career prospects:
(1) Insurance Medical Officers (Grade II)
appointed in ESI Corporation become eligible for
promotion to the post of I.M.O. Grade-I (Pay scale Rs.10,000-15,200/-) after four years service, to the post of Chief
Medical Officer (Rs.12,000-16,500/-) after another five years and to the post of C.M.O. (NFSG)
(Rs.14,300-18,300/-) after another four years
service.
(2) Specialists Grade-II (Junior Scale)
become eligible for promotion to the post of Specialist
Grade-II (Senior Scale) (Rs.12,000-16,500/-) after two years of service and to the post of Specialist Grade-I (Rs.
14,300-18,300/-) after another four years of service.
(3) Dental Surgeon become eligible for
promotion to the post of Junior Staff Surgeon (Dental)
(Rs. 10,000-15,200/-) after four years service and to the post of Staff Surgeon (Dental) (Rs. 12,000-16,500/-)
after another six years of service.
(4) Medical Officers (Ayurveda) become
eligible for first promotion as Senior Medical Officer
(Ayurveda) (Rs. 10,000-15,200/-) after
four years service, second promotion as
Chief Medical Officer (Ayurveda) (Rs. 12,000-16,500/-) after another six years service and to the post of Chief Medical Officer (NFSG)
(Rs.14,300-18,300/-) after total service
of 14 years in Group 'A' post(s).
HOW
TO APPLY:
Applications in the prescribed form, complete
in all respects and enclosing attested copies of certificates are to be sent in
a cover superscribed “Application for
the post of _____________”, State Applied For ___________”, by Registered
Post/Speed Post so as to reach the Senior State / State Medical
Commissioner, ESI Corporation of the State concerned as per instructions given in
the State level advertisement. ESIC will not be responsible for postal
delays. In case of any discrepancy in English and Hindi version of the advertisement,
English version shall be treated as final.
Note 1 : Number of vacancies can vary at the time of selection.
Note 2 : STATEWISE
VACANCIES ALONG WITH RESERVATION IS BEING PUBLISHED SEPARATELY IN THE
LEADING ENGLISH AS WELL AS VERNACULAR DAILIES
OF THE RESPECTIVE STATE.
Note 3 : The selected candidates
will be kept posted in the State chosen, upto the promotional post
carrying a pay scale of Rs. 12,000-375-16,500/- in the respective cadre, as far
as possible, but they are liable to be posted anywhere in India.
Note 4 : The interview for the post of Specialist Gr. II (Jr. Scale) will
be held at a suitable place in the
respective State preferably State capital which will be notified at the time of
calling for interviews. The candidates may indicate their choice of the
State on the top right hand side of the application form. The Corporation, however, reserve its
right not to conduct interview in any of the venues and to call candidates in a
State other than his/her choice, in the
event of inadequate number of candidates available for interview in a
particular venue.
The examination will be held for
recruitment to the other three categories of posts in the manner given in the
State level advertisement.
Note 5 : The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the
closing date of receipt of applications from candidates in India (and not the
closing date prescribed for those in
Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland,
Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti
District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman
and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep).
Caution: - Canvassing in any form will be a
disqualification.
